iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone Apps for Learning Social Skills

By Autism Spectrum Directory, All Rights Reserved.

This is a list of Social Skills Apps compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. One of the three core symptoms for an autism spectrum disorder is social impairment. People on the autism spectrum learn by association rather than by observation. An iTunes app can be used as a teaching tool for the purpose of making associative connections (visual clues) by pictures or stories showing what social skills are supposed to look like so that the person with an autism spectrum disorder can learn (by visual association) and model (by imitation) these social skills in the context of real life social scenarios.

I think that for begiinners that the ipad is good for learning skills.. APPLE has a track record of being number 1 for educational computers … we used to have a Foundation that was a registered APPLE user. In other words we developed software for special needs as in dyslexia, etc. and for the regular student…We no longer have the not-for-profit and I do not know if the new BOD is capable of creating software such as this. John Downing also had a alphabet composed of sound-symbols that could be relative for a learning dimension for those of your students that have the potential to read.
